Liga President Jessica Dy Meets with DOT Secretary Frasco to Explore Barangay Tourism Collaborations

The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas, led by National President Jessica Dy, held a productive dialogue with Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco to explore joint initiatives that will promote grassroots tourism nationwide.
One of the key projects discussed was the development of an interactive tourism map to be launched on the Liga’s first official website. This digital platform will highlight tourist attractions within barangays, providing both local and international travelers with opportunities to discover hidden gems, cultural treasures, and community-based experiences.
President Dy emphasized that the initiative underscores the vital role of barangays in advancing sustainable tourism. By showcasing heritage sites, cultural hubs, and natural attractions, barangays will not only draw more visitors but also generate meaningful economic opportunities for their communities.
Secretary Frasco welcomed the proposal, reiterating the DOT’s commitment to strengthen partnerships with barangay leaders and local government units. She noted that empowering barangays as key players in tourism development contributes to a more inclusive and diverse travel landscape for the Philippines.
The Liga expressed its gratitude to Secretary Frasco and the DOT for their openness and support, reaffirming that this collaboration will pave the way for stronger synergy between national tourism strategies and grassroots initiatives.
